Does anyone else have the urge to trick while doing a survive it run?
I just can't help myself, I usually end up with what would be a gold medal score and 20X multiplier at the end, so awesome.

i have the urge to trick all the time, but sometimes it just doesn't yield an advantage.

I WAS THINKING. the last time i was up at EA (i hope it's legit to talk about this now), they were messing around with the idea or possible implementation of tricking having some sort of benefit while surviving. they were testing the Everest deadly descent and asked me what i thought about maybe getting an O2 boost every time you land a big trick or something?

i think this would be a great idea, because if you look at it strictly from a technical point of view, there is only so much you can "survive" until your gear gives up on you. obviously there are some DD tracks you can do without any survival gear relatively easily, but for those tracks like Everest, where your tank runs out eventually and there really isn't anything you can do about it, or the Siberia DD where you could go super slow and not have to use an ice-axe, but eventually it's going to be a huge pain in the ass to try and navigate that track without ice axes.

so, my point being, what if doing big tricks or finishing the track in a certain amount of time gave your gear a little bit of extra boost? that way, you have incentive to incorporate the tricking and racing aspect of SSX AND it there's an advantage to doing it. i think this would be sweet.

sorry if that went a bit off topic.

Nah, that was an excellent post, and I would love to see that in-game.
The only problem, would be that I would be able to keep on going forever :rolleyes
Nah, seriously, that would be great.
(I'm going down the ice deadly descent as I type, it's so hard to do both at the same time! I don't recommend it!)

I've often wished that the motto was Tricks Equals Oxygen. Or Armor. Or Warmth. Or Rewinds.

Off topic, does anyone know when/if the next shred with the devs event will be?

Yeah, I can't help it either.

The idea they had of tricks = regenerate gear is an interesting idea, but I think I'm glad they didn't go with it. Survive runs can be really long as it is, and Survive and Trick runs have really different strategies now which is cool.

i try to hit those big air jumps and just stare at a trick. no flips or spins. just see exactly what the character does for the trick.

mainly just the Sig tricks, Stay Frosty and Waay Back.

Ditto, I think it should be standard, just less and less each run to keep it fair

I always trick it down the first couple runs of a survive. I love that idea as long as people couldnt exploit it which i feel they would

A trick it + survive would be cool. You survived 9,000m and scored 100000000 points

Honestly I was kind of expecting them to do this. Mainly the O2 one, because I figured otherwise O2 events would be so short if you were limited like that. It's a little too late to patch in though.

And related to the topic, I always trick down survive events. Always. It's too boring otherwise. I usually slow it down a bit the further I get though, it's just the start or the parts I'm most confident at when I trick... I wouldn't constantly trick in the Ice, Thin Air or Dark ones but do it all the time for Trees/Rocks and Gravity.

I'm not so sure...
I like the idea, but in practice I would hate it.
Survive it runs can last SO long--especially if you're going for Gold.

If they changed the standard quality of items, then yes; we wouldn't have
to be forced to stay alive for so long.

But I think the idea in Oxygen Survive Its is to get down as QUICKLY as
you can, without tricky, so that you don't use as much O2 up.
This made Oxygen Drops intense for me, because anytime I would go over
a hop or roll off a wall, I would freak out know that I wasted so much time.

Yeah I normally end up doing that. It's usually just breaking out the signature tricks and other stuff I wouldn't normally use and probably won't spin as much. Helps to appreciate the awesomeness of some of the tricks a little more :P

I usually end up just doing 180s and 360s on Survive Its.

I think my Survival runs look better than my Trick runs, especially on courses I know well.

I don't think this should be a game mechanic though. It's fun 'freeriding' the survival runs. They last so damn long, you've gotta mix it up somehow.
