We're working on a larger tuner pack, but just to keep things interesting we made a few minor tweeks to GE's that are now in effect.

Summary:

-made the 'low roller' range have longer events in general to help accomodate players who can't play during peak hours
-made sure there is an event on all peaks in each range for achievement hunters
-went from 2 survival events on each range to 1, and made them a bit longer
-added a $5M, 5min race and trick event into Saturday and Sundays ranges. These will be The Hammer (trick) and Old School (race) on Saturday and JT2 (trick) and Last to Hit (Race) on Sunday

The ultra-short event is interesting. We tried it today. Might not work, hard to say. Crazy intense though, it's almost not enough time for a single trick run on those drops and barely enough time for 2 tries at race.

Enjoy. :thumbsup

Sounds awesome! Excited for this large tuner pack too. I was surprised something like lighting effects could be changed on the fly like that, and it'd be cool to see more stuff along those lines.
My only worry is that super short events may have just worked because everyone knew when it would be, while we don't.
Great to see events on more than just the event peak too.

Wow, that all sounds awesome. :china

I will be interested to try the really short events. I like the idea of only fitting in one run, although 5 minutes for trick... that is going to be a real squeeze!

If they take off, maybe you could try having those short events running for a longer period, like all week or something? Like Marcus, I'm wondering if they'll work if they're not heavily 'advertised'. So if they're there for longer, maybe more people will join.

Because the 'featured range' banner in the main menu needs to point to a single drop, we made it point to the 5+5 event. Might help. Might not. :)

So why is there a survive mode again, if there's only going to be one available event?

I have trouble getting to events within the first minute. I RARELY refresh an just finished Event Pending event and get on in the first minute. I average getting into the event within the first 2-5 minutes. I hope it works...

Hoping the 5M credit drop cost helps with that.

You will definitely want to sit on the drop so you can jump in right when it opens. Kinda like sitting and waiting in a lobby.

would choosing the lighting/weather/night/day conditions of the track be something able to do through a tuner pack or would that have to be a dlc type thing since it would probably tinkle with the interface a bit?

If you're referring to givng the player that choice/ability, yeah, that could only be done via a patch/title update.

We can push different lighting and some weather changes via tuner packs though, as we have done in the past.

i hope you guys decide to do that in the future, some levels would look gorgeous at night and vise versa and some tracks that are day time i'd love to see at night or in the orange hue/type of lightening/weather condition.

oh and btw did you get my email? just making sure it didn't fall into your junk folder or anything like that!

:glare

The day there's only one trick or race event in a range...well, that's another story.

Yeah, I get it, can't please everyone but seriously, why have a range you can't use 50% or more of it during the range of the day events? And you can only use custom ge's that even when open to everyone, you'll be lucky if you get 20 people in them...

These actually show up as 10 minutes to me, last minute change? I like it though, 5 seems very short.
The Hammer has quite a bit of interest, but Old School is devoid of people. Probably because there is nothing pointing to it while The Hammer is in the featured peak. Also noticed there are longer events on the featured peak as well now.
I love this new event (on non-peak hours I make almost 30 million cash with a short trick run, a sloppy 30 million points one got me in Diamond bracket already :eek ) but I'm not sure people who only manage bronze will keep playing as they lose almost 3 million in 10 minutes.

So i just tested it. Adrenaline rush feeling is definitely back with that short event system. Cause u have to hurry setting up ur char, picking ur mods, etc.. and then no mistake allowed, i had 3 tries max on Old School. It felt being in a lobby a bit more (hopefully in the future with a NFS-one like :D ). Thanks for the efforts done.

Just tried the 5M drops. over 60 people in 10 minuts! This was a good idea. 5 minuts would be too short but this is perfect. Only the race in Alaska isn't crowded. the winnings and Alps make up for it tho :D

Kinda. but not quite. Here's what it's like to wait in a lobby. :lol

Here's another example, lol. First attempt "network error". Second attempt, 3minute wait.

SSX fans need to put the bong down, sober up, and realize that lobbies straight up suck. :yes

The EA servers are know for being better than that...or maybe not.
Guess this is why the online part is what it is. At least this works though it isn't the perfect set-up.

Since there are way less events now, can't you guys use the ridernet wall to promote all tracks on the featured peak, maybe the other peaks in the range will get noticed more.

Just make all available events on the featured range show up on the ridernet in this order:
- events friends are in
- survive it drop (since there only is one)
- trick and race events (high to low drop cost)
- events you already joined

I still have Siberia. Should it be the Alps today?

It's only working on PSN, not on XBL. XBL didn't even roll over to today's mountains. Griff apparently walked into the server room with snow on his boots and shorted some shit out. He's a jerk, go beat him in World Tour.

i'm enjoying the 5m Hammer event. Gets the adrenaline going. Boosts the coffers as well.
5m entry and 5 minutes later I got 39m payout
