Today I joined a Custom Survive GE on Wrecking Crew that was about to end, just because I was working on my 50 Custom Events badge. I got about 2/3s down and the event ended on me, where I lost control of my character with the menu telling me my event ended and all that. My character kept going down the track on his own so I decided to just let him go until the finish to see if he stops or if he keeps going and crashes into an incomplete track. To my surprise, there was actually a lot more to the track, with a bunch of trees and even a second finish line at the end of the track that lead into an open empty section.

I asked Batty and he said that the section was taken out of the track, despite it looking pretty complete. I thought I'd bring it up for you guys to check for yourselves, and I'm actually curious if there are other tracks that are longer but are cut off early. Personally I always thought that JT2 had more to it.

Do you think there's any other way to access those hidden sections besides an event timing out? Cuz that's super inconvenient.

Also nice find :thumbsup

I don't know if race/trick events stop you on the spot when the event timer runs out, but I learned today that they do for Survive events. So I guess the only tracks we could test this out on are the tracks with sruvival drops :S

Nice find, really interesting. Now that you mention it, along with adding completely new tracks it would also be pretty cool if they expanded on some of the more popular tracks where at all possible. Add routes that start higher than the current starting lines and routes that go further than the current finish lines. Probably won't happen but a lot of the tracks have cool themes that end way too soon.

That's a pretty good find, I remember seeing parts of courses I never was able to go to but looked rather complete, just locked off. Do you happen to have a video of this? Would be fun to see!

Just checked this out for myself and man, I can understand why they took it out. This section of the track would make the drop brutal. Still sort of disappointed we can't explore it more though.

I read your post and noticed Corkscrew/Red light in Africa is the same way. It appeared to be just a slight bit longer, but it was outside of the caves which I think would be a refreshing feeling being in the light on those tracks.

Very interesting, I wonder why it was cut out?

Funny you should mention africa danny as I think that region had ALOT more potential... Where were that tracks that devled into caves only to burst back out into the african sun? :)

I don't have the ability to take videos, but it's not too difficult to do on your own. Make a custom 10 minute survive GE, wait until there's about a minute and a half left and start rushing down the mountain. Let the timer run out when you're close to the finish line.

Remember I did this as well (let the character keep going after 'time's up'), but can't remember which track it was.

There's always that urge for me to get over that little ridge at the end of a race or something :D
I think though sometimes a track ending at a more natural place then just fizzling out is better.

The Avalanche DD could definitely keep going but it feels alot better ending just after the massive drop, not going downa small hill and then finishing off.

Some, if not most tracks could be extended though as long as they don't just fizzle out if you know what i mean.

The potential could have made it easily the best region I believe. Like what you were saying, if they had it so you cut out of the cave for a brief few seconds then dive back in or have a jump that ended one cave leaving you in daylight, but on the downfall you plummet back into a new cave.

they were just sticking to the theme of Darkness.

then again, they could have done a track where you go in a cave and come out on a track like on the Trees DD but in pitch darkness. i think i saw it in a trailer too.

Darkness could be even harder if there were brief patches of light, though, as you don't get to slowly ease back into the darkness & let your eyes adjust to it.

also you are gonig to be less cautious in the light sections so you'll probably have some excess speed when you drop back into the darkness which could cause problems if there are some tricky crevasses near the cave entrances.

To all of the above, exactly..... so many missed opportunities on this range

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Africa to a certain extend, however there are a few major gripes for me holding the potential back, before I say these I KNOW that this region is not meant for an insane trick it experience but more for narrow, low, hard tracks where death is very easy..... However:

- The ceilings of many of the caverns for me are FAR to low, way to often have I hit the roof and spun of left right and centre, I realise that the character does try and auto rotate to 'ride the roof' but in practice I find my character spinning out of coming of their board....As i said i appreciate that it is supposed to be like this, however some short frantic low areas would be fine, but where jumps are placed allow some head room :)
-Waaaaay too many crevices, yes this is the theme of the tracks, however I think the deadly decent deserves them, NOT the remaining tracks, it is simply not fun to constantly tumble into a crevice :(
- Africa is a beautiful country, why not take advantage of this and allow us to see the 'sky-box's' and African sunshine? what I mean is like in new Zealand, in many of the tracks you can kook far out to see and appreciate the scale! Africa is perfect for this, imagine looking out across the savannah into the distance!
-As we have discussed, Daylight would be perfect for Africa, plunging into darkness from a brilliantly sunlit heli drop would be immense, and actually emphasise the danger and intensity of the darkness....like wise many of you have said bursting out into the sunlight for brief seconds at various intervals would also have been perfect :(

These are not moans at the dev team or demands for DLC (although this theme would be nice ;) ) I am simply sharing my opinion on what could have elevated Africa from one of the least played (as I imagine it is...) to one of the most played region's.....

Anyway this discussion has sort of been split into the other thread called 'Man, I really wish they kept this in the game...', shall we keep it to this one? ;)

EDIT: grammer

Ceilings in Africa are perfect. If they were so high that you never hit them then what's the point? If there were higher they'd just be an aesthetic. Why not have something requires you to adapt?

This.

I love how Africa takes a different, much edgier tricking strategy.

I just feel that at some points the ceilings could be raised to allow for tricks, e.g when coming out of a long tunnel section....
Also I must say that I would not want this on many of the African tracks, only a couple to add a bit of variety and change it up a little...

I don't mind the roofs that much in Africa. What bothers me is that instead of the walls bouncing you back you end up going up them and doing some really fucked up loopy-de-loops in the middle of a race lol.

Yeah and the camera does not help one bit :( I wish the camera would stay central instead of fipping, so you could still se where you were going :(

That's the one thing I find frustrating in this game.
