Hhmmm.

'It would have been great to see traditional races and best trick competitions included, as SSX shies away from traditional multiplayer. With a simple update, this could easily be fixed.'

Doesn't need fixing

I haven't read the review, but I already disagree with that quote on a technical level. Adding new multiplayer modes is never simple, or quick, or cheap.

No traditional multiplayer will be a bone of contention with the reviews - just get used to it. We talked this to death around here so it shouldn't be a surprise. With that said, the game is so much more than the sum of it's parts or what was left out.

Just bought two Belgian-Dutch game magazines with an SSX review.
I haven't read the reviews but have seen the somewhat underwhelming scores:

Chief: 7.8/10
OPM: 8.3/10

Will post later about the actual content of the reviews.

Normally i don't care about reviews (it's like with music or books, one should find a reviewer who has the same taste and follow his or her reviews, they might give an indication, but otherwise reviews are very subjective), but this time i want the game to sell good (DLC and a follow-up game of course)...I guess this is a bummer...When i have the game myself, i will comment on the reviews.

It seems (from the sub-titles) that in the 7.8 review they don't like the fact that the game is over the top...but that is the essence of all the SSX games...strange people those Belgians (i should know, i am one myself).

by those pros and cons i'd give it a 9. Those are very minor problems.

Interesting to see that Danish Gamereactor gave it 8/10, while the Swedish edition put it at 7/10.

I'm glad the big sites are scoring it very well, if people buy based off reviews they're more likely to trust those sites. A couple of reviewers appear to have an axe to grind - almost like they saw the first trailer and haven't paid any more attention to the game until their review copy arrived.

Gamerankings is sitting at 83%, which is pretty good!

Never heard of NowGamer.

Ultimately, he's entitled to his opinion, but as some people have noted already, they claimed multiplayer was "N/A / 10" and factored that N/A into the average as a score of 0/10. Impressive.
