The test is whether you can function when it is taken away :)

^ truth.

though i'm not exactly sure what the definition of function is in this context. since i've had god forsaken blood clots in my lungs, i haven't smoked anything.

hard? yes. unable to function? no. can i function when it's taken away? sure, unwillingly of course.

I can't get through a day without drinking coffee... is there something inherently wrong about that? Of course not... why should a person who can't get through the day without cannabis be treated any different... because it's illegal? We need things to function everyday... food, water, webcomics... give me one reason why cannabis shouldn't be lumped into those categories. Just because we can't function without something doesn't mean it's bad... we are all addicts to one thing or another... for me it's coffee...

WOW I sure have changed. Looking back at how I was when I was 13 and 14 really makes me sick to my stomach. I did NOT belong on this board, haha.

I'm 15, turning 16 in less than a month and I smoke cigarettes and weed.

Cigarettes mainly due to some anxiety problems that I've developed overtime.

Weed because I enjoy it, a lot.

I don't drink though.

was wondering what that was for a few days ago. Does it serve any purpose at all?

Edit: I apologize.

Let's refrain from posting pictures or giving advice on how to do whatever, okay? This is discussion about the subject matter, not a tutorial thread.

because weed is not bad. it's only bad because a certain group of people have decided that it's bad and have made the masses think it's so bad that it's become illegal.

BUT, you're only what like, 12? wait til you're at least 15 or 16.

I have no problem with people smoking weed or cigarettes, but I DO have a problem with them smoking it in public. If you're going to do it, do it out of my face.

Just the same, I have a problem with people drinking coffee in front of my face. Like, for real dude, your breath stinks, gtf outta here. :lol

In their house? Designated smoking areas? As long as it's not like the entrance to a mall or right outside my house in the neighbourdhood. It's annoying when people smoke weed in the neighbourhood and it goes through my window.

Edit; Oh, I have a big problem with people smoking cigarettes in public too (it's not just me discriminating with weed or anything). Anything that people smoke that releases an odor is not okay with me, because a) if anyone smokes a cigarette and even weed around me I get consequences for it too, and b) I really hate the smell of most things that are smoked (and I don't quite care who thinks weed "smells good", to me it smells absolutely disgusting and I don't want it anywhere near me).

Some people dislike crying babies. We still let them out in public...

I never said people that smoke should not be allowed in public... I'm saying that if you're going to do it, then do it away from people that don't want to smell it.

I mean, if you guys seriously have a problem with that opinion, then I'm sorry, but I'm pretty firm on that belief. Like I said I don't have a problem with people that smoke or drink, I just don't want to be a part of it. I don't want to get second-hand smoke just because I smelled someone else's smoke, and that's that. Rather than smoke in front of the entrance to an office building, do it at the side or just somewhere that people don't have to cross to get to their destination.

i don't think people have a problem with that opinion, but i just don't know what you're suggesting. maybe you should get everyone else who shares your opinion to wear a 'i don't want you to smoke near me' sign around their neck, because i don't know any way that you'd be able to tell someone like YOU (who doesn't want people to smoke around them) from ME (who doesn't mind) otherwise.

i agree with doyle and khalpz, there are plenty things that i don't like that a lot of people do, but that's a part of living in a society. you don't like that my weed smoke gets in through your window? well i don't like that your mcdonald's goes through my window, but i'm not allowed to complain about that. and even if i was, it's way too large and societal to change it. you can't pick and choose somewhat insignificant things that you don't like and blame other people and tell them to change it. society is too large, there are too many people and there's no way you can change that.

don't get me wrong kav, i see what you're saying, i just don't know what you'd ideally want. people aren't gonna go to a designated smoking area every time they want to smoke, just like you're not going to go to a designated mcdonald's eating area every time you eat that. i have as much right to smoke in the middle of the parking lot as anyone else. and if YOU don't like it, then i think YOU should be the one to go away.

oh and mcdonald's was just an example.

What I'm getting at is, smoke at home, smoke in the garage, smoke in your car, if you're at work don't smoke at the entrance. That's my point.

If weed were legalized, same rules apply. When I say "designated smoking areas" I don't mean "you must be within this small circle we drew for you," I meant it more as "don't do it in places where everyone passes through."

I think you need to keep in mind that people who don't smoke, avoid doing so for a reason: They don't want to have the bad chemicals of a cigarette inside of them (whether through first or second hand smoke), they don't want to be around the odor (or even get nausious around it), they don't want to be high throughout the day. I feel like your logic here is backwards, considering it's the smokers that are blowing what they smoke in our faces, not vice-versa.

Like I said, I don't have a problem with people doing it, whether it's because they enjoy it or need it, but don't get other people involved. If you enjoy being around it, then go to the places where people do it, as opposed to doing it publicly and getting those who don't want to be involved, involved.

Kav,

The same arguement applies to people who talk loudly in spaces near to you. I don't want to hear dickhead conversations between groups of twots (say for example, in the pub, on public transport, cinema, a restaurant: all talking bollocks and shouting at each other, even though the're only 2ft away from the idiot that they're talking to) - I'd move away somewhere else.

You could of course engage them by saying 'you're talking too loudly, please keep it down' but it's unlikely that they'd listen and it'd escalate into an argument.

You may have done it yourself but not even realised it.

If smoking bothers you, just move away.

I was wondering if a fly has ever been killed accidentally by someone dropping a screen or bud in their bowl

Would it be possible? Do you think it has ever happened in history?

Hehe, I think we're all thinking a bit differently here. I'm talking about a life in a theoretical world where as you guys are talking in an actual world. I would never expect anyone in this day and age, without government reform and changes to any bills controlling alcohol and drugs, to actually do the things I'm saying. I'm speaking more under the mindset of "if weed were legalized..."

But still, the smell of cigarettes and weed do make me queesy. Cigarettes are not natural, and weed a lot of the time has random crap added onto it as well, depending on the seller. You compare my scenarios to McDonalds and yelling babies, but I'm not telling you that weed or cigarettes annoy me, I'm talking about them making me feel physically sick and actually harming my body as well as yours when I smell it (even though I'm not smoking it). A baby yelling will worst-case stress me out or piss me off, where as if you smoke in my face, I'll get sick. That's kinda my point here, I'm not saying that people should smoke at home or in private places for the simple fact that it annoys me. I'm also trying to speak for everyone that shares the same problem as I do, and if I'm the first person you've ever encountered that can't stand the smell of smoked drugs, then I think you need to open your eyes and see other people around you who hold their breath as they pass by you or simply walk away from you as you smoke :yes

So in the end, I don't have a problem if you guys smoke, but don't do it near me. I'm not the only one who has this mindset, there are millions upon millions of other people that can't take the smell of cigarettes and refuse to smoke or even try smoking because of it. Of course in the 'actual world' I have to avoid smokers because they don't give the decency most of the time to realize that it makes many others sick and uncomfortable.
