lol i said the same thing to myself too. i have to scale it to size. plus the pipe is in the wrong direction to the skilifts
i just did these today:

These pics give a better view of it. I think it looks odd at the end with the circular tower because you have the bottom of the pipe getting lower but not the coping (lip). Depending on what progamme your using, could you make the pipe the starting depth the whole way along and tilt the whole picture, then rotate the buildings back to being vertical?? Scaling looks correct at the start of the pipe though Mav.

i tried to make the pipe smaller but i may need to do more.

Try bringing the bottom up by about a third and flattening out the bottom. :) I like the look of the gondola station in the second pic, nice detail. I hope you dont mind me suggesting improvements. :china

Thank's guys. And sure I'll take any suggestions. I want to stay true to the SSX feel as much as I can.

The pipes shape is looking good now Mav :pimp scale wise its far bigger than any real pipe, but thats what SSX pipes are like. I'm realy liking the detail that you're putting on those buildings.

I found you Yeti and i'll follow GSG as well.

not sure just yet Sajjetta, any ideas?

Well, from what I'm seeing the pipe profile (from end on) is made up of Eight straight lines. The two vertical ones are fine flatten out the bottom four to make one large horizontal line then you have two vertical lines, the large horizontal bit and two horizontal lines, then try to turn the two horizontal ones into smooth curves between the horizontal and vertical bits. I think that would then be as best you can get the profile of the pipe.

For the down hill slope real pipes are angled at 20-30 degrees from the horizontal, so unless you put the whole city on a slope it may be easier to just leave it flat and prehaps put a huge inrun slope (from the side of the pipe) at one end (like the pipes in ssx 3 have).

its kinda taking a little be longer to render now that im adding the details, so soon it'll be time to start on adding colors, materials, and textures. :D

Ha, I do know some random shit, I've ridden enough superpipes though to know the general dimensions + shape (Also to know that I should stick to the Ski X tracks)

I love the detail your putting into this, I'd completely forgotten all about colour which explains why I thought it was looking very Mirrors Edge'ish.

Just wondering if your going to be putting a second cable on the upper part of the gondola?

Wed Sep 02, 2009 4:06 am

I will if it can fit. The reason why there's only one is because I wasn't planning on making it wrap around the hold pipe. Don't want to make it more cluttered.
