I'm pretty sure these albums have pretty much shaped me as a person.

In no particular order.. I'm trying to limit it to one album per band.

Self-Titled - Ben Folds Five
The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails
The Information - Beck
The Virgin Suicides - Air
The Life Pursuit - Belle and Sebastian
The Campfire Headphase - Boards of Canada
Self-Titled - The Brecker Brothers
De-Loused in the Comatorium - The Mars Volta
In Keeping Secrets Silent Earth: 3 - Coheed and Cambria
Homework - Daft Punk
You're a Woman, I'm a Machine - Death From Above 1979
Miss Machine - The Dillinger Escape Plan
Images and Words - Dream Theater
Hot Rats, Broadway the Hard Way, Tinsel Town Rebellion, Joe's Garage - Frank Zappa (Yeah he's good enough to get 4 albums on my list)
There's No 666 in Outer Space - Hella
Your Endless Numbered Days - Iron and Wine
Travelling Without Moving - Jamiroquai
Before the Dawn Heals Us - M83
Visions of the Emerald Beyond - The Mahavishnu Orchestra
Live it Out - Metric
Mr. Beast - Mogwai
Satanic Panic in the Attic - Of Montreal
Moonbabies - Planet X
OK Computer, Hail to the Thief - Radiohead (They get two entries because they may as well be two different bands)
Live at Slane - The Red Hot Chili Peppers
In Casino Out - At the Drive-In
Melody AM - Royksopp
Wincing the Night Away - The Shins
Nothing Lasts - Shpongle
Come on feel the Illinoise!, Seven Swans - Sufjan Stevens
The Outernational Sound - Thievery Corporation
Lateralus, 10,000 Days - Tool
Heavy Weather, Black Market - Weather Report
Red, Larks' Tongues in Aspics - King Crimson
Red, Yellow, and Blue - Born Ruffians
Watch Out! - Alexisonfire
Doppelganger - Fall of Troy
Drukqs - Aphex Twin
Give - The Bad Plus
Onward Through the Fog - The Jimmy Swift Band
Funeral - The Arcade Fire
Fragile - Yes
The Hidden Land - Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy - Chick Corea and the Return to Forever

Please, make your own list and post that it.
BTW, this started off as something entirely unrelated, I didn't actually just type up this list exclusively for merq. That would be crazy.

Okay, I'm not much of a music person, unlike Titan I have like 10 CDs and they're all at least 10 years old. :lol But I can remember a few albums that I loved as a little kid:

Weird Al's one with Fat and I think I'm a clone now

Some random Julian Lennon album my brother got at a garage sale.

A Toad the Wet Sprocket Album.

A Bush Album I had, the one with Machinehead on it.

And I think that's all. As you can see I recall them in vivid detail. :heh

A lot of Beatles that I listened to at age 7-9, can't pick just one album...

After that, I had a few dark years of listening to hits, nothing worth remembering there.

Clayman by In Flames is an album that meant a lot to me in my years of teenage angst around the time I joined this board. Sons of Northern Darkness by Immortal opened the door to black metal for me, a door which will never be closed.

Origin of Symmetry by Muse helped me as I was first starting out at my job and having a rough time last year.

Right now, Iäm listening to The Bends and OK Computer by Radiohead, classic albums that I will now associate with what im going through right now, with moving out, work and love life.

All the little troubles that seem so big at the time are just helped with music, and alcohol. :)

I can't say that JUST music has shaped me into what I am.

I can safetly say that Reckoning night by Sonata Arctica opened my eyes to Flower Metal, and since I get inspiration for a lot of things from both Jani Liimatainen and Power Metal lyrics in general I can't say the album didn't have an influence on me.

Origin of Symmetry by Muse made me cream my pants the first time I heard it, deffinitely one of if not THE greatest album of all time for me. It's influenced a lot of things that made me who I am when I was a teenager.

In flames - Soundtrack to your escape deffinitely got me into Metal and I don't know if I'd still be stuck in that ridiculous stage of 90's rock and American new wave rock that consists of MCR, Simple Plan and what have you. So In Flames is probably the most influencial album for me to date.

And last but not least, the Backstreet Boys - Unbreakable for helping me to rediscover my love of most music as a whole and not an Elitist who only listens to rock and hates upon anything "popular" This album probably reopened all the doors to my childhood and as such is what has helped me change most recently and helped me truly discover what my love of music is and what music I really do enjoy. Having said that I still hate Rap and R n B, still can't stand most of what Radio one plays, and thinks the English and American charts are the most generic, overplayed waste of crap ever.

As a general list: Started out young with Shakin Stevens, moved to Trandsformers soundtrack with Eurythmics and Phil Collins, next came Slaughter, Rush and Faith no More. On to Creed and Soundgarden. Currently on Bif Naked, Pink, Audioslave and Disturbed and Kerli.

I know is says albums but I bought the majority of the above artists records, tapes and CD's

If I thought the music was good then I bought it - mostly singles though.

When I finally moved on from listening to Top 20's hits (c'mon, everyone did that in middle school...right?), Happy 2.B. Hardcore was one of the first albums I went with - that, and a good trance album (it had Sandstorm, Omnibus and all the stuff from around that time - a good starter album). At that time, I got Nirvana's Nevermind and, a bit later, Daft Punk's Discovery. Holy crap, that album means the world to me. It's still my fave. ;_;

For me, I spose it's...

--> ABBA Gold. 8-) ftw. When I was 8 I was a huge ABBA fan.

--> Good Charlotte - The Young And The Hopeless. When I first got into rock music.

--> The Rasmus - Dead Letters.
--> HIM - Love Metal.
--> Within Temptation - Mother Earth.

I listened to those three a lot between years 8 and 9 when I was in school. They somehow helped me to get a bit more confident and beat the bullies.

--> My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. For when I lost my dad to cancer.

--> SpeedTheory - Hit The Dirt. Made me proud to be Wulfrunian.

I can't really think of any more tbh.
