There are several clever things I thought of typing, but realy it just sickens me.

I blame GTA. It's desensitized us to running down people.

But seriously yeah, it's gotten pretty bad these days, some people are only concerned about themselves, even in the face of situations where it's obvious they should help.

Yeah D: I was at the airport the other day and I had two carry on bags and four check in (Shut up, it's a two month vacation) and no one would help me with all the stuff I had, and it was obvious I was struggling. D:

I agree though, GTA is bull even though it's so popular... and a lot of times stuff in games actually rubs off on people

Our modern day society is much more humane than it was in the past.

Eyewitness reports to that first article state that the driver yelled out the window "10 points!" as he was doing that.....yep, sounds like gta to me too.
/end sick sense of humor

Mess is right though -- while these stories.."are the suck", its two isolated incidents. Maybe more people then ever are concerned only with themselves and their family, but modern day society is far and away less brutal than it was in our past.

gta isn't the problem....think bigger.

I saw the second article on the news yesterday. If it was a dog that had gotten hit there'd probably be 15 people around it in minutes.

And yet when it's an older man no one gives a fuck.

I'm pretty sick of the whole thing myself. I live in a tough area, where it's either teenage kids or pensioners (the occasional young family, by which I mean like three)

And all you ever see is vandilism of some description and a Clybebank Post thing with something about rape, drugs, murder and God only knows what else.

People, stop judging these people so harshly because, while your feelings may be justified, you are simply putting more divisions between yourselves.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone who did a hit and run... how scared would you be? You don't have anything but adrenal instinct to be your conscience. It doesn't mean he should get off Scott free ... but really, don't automatically assume they are the Devil.

This is exactly why the world is so fucked up, smug people.

right, but if we don't say anything about it, who will???
I mean everybody says something about this, and the world is bad etc etc.
But nobody DOES something about it :sad

No one will do it if the people authorised to do it won't.

Nobody said it was, dear.

You could say the solution is to get more police on the streets. But they're too scared to do that with all the shit they've been getting off delinquents.

I can understand why a hit and run driver might flee the scene. In this case it was obviously not an accident, but I dont see how the people could just stand there and do nothing, even if it was a realy screwed up neighborhood and you were scared that if you helped you would piss some one off, why not walk off round the corner and phone for an ambulence?

Because if it's a buggered up neighbourhood then if you do anything to help then you get shit.

Yeah, that's the way places everywhere work

Stabbing/rape/whatever
Police investigate/appeal for help
Someone pipes up
That person gets shit
Repeat process
