I was wonderin if the characters in ssx 3 are diffrent statistically. And are there characters that are better suited for tricks racing etc like it was in tricky?

yes.

Each character has a different bounding box (i.e. what rectangular area is considered to be the character, for purposes of collision detection). While it's not a major difference, playing with Griff will give you an advantage in tight areas like tunnels, and in doing flips close to the ground.
