I think we have the same line, you will see it when I put it up this evening. :)

Me too, definitely! :yes (chicken?! :wink)

Here is my Throne (racing) run, which Gondee kindly put: REMOVED LINK, available on request! :)

About the run:

This is a GREAT run to practice!!! :cheers

1. The movie isn't an ideal run, but it shows what needs to be done to get an excellent time. After I released it the record was quickly improved from 2:19 to 2:12 (the current record). There are two falls in it, and more opportunities for improvement.
2. You get Platinum, or $50K for each consecutive run, if you make it in 2:34 or better!!! (that's about $1.000.000 in one hour!)
3. You get Gold, or $25K for each consecutive run, if you 'only' outrun Psymon or his replacement (in 2:42 mostly).
4. You get to punch Psymon A LOT!!! lol :D (hope he doesn't hold grudges! :heh)
5. This clip is COOL!! Perfect start, nice tune, highly educational, 'I can't afford these kind of mistakes!' (and then falling again) :heh, and the end tune is climactic! :dj
6. Sure you can do better, well show us the Run!!! :yes

Some simple tips: To make things a bit easier/faster than the movie shows, the bumpy terrain should be crossed staying on / aiming towards the left side. Don't try to steer too much, it can cost you seconds - and speed (!!) for the gap jumps. For obtaining 'Platinum', you can probably avoid all the difficult things like grinding. :)

edit: 007 has released a (much) faster run, alas missing the music.. :china :china :china

Wow, nice run there. :cheers

You were going so fast I think you were in the air more time than on the ground. :heh

get more bandwidth ettepet, you've exceeded your limit for the day already :D hehe

Just to let you all know, I'm zipping all the files tomorrow since I see them being direct-linked out the wazoo at other sites. That runs up bandwidth like you wouldn't believe.

Tue Nov 11, 2003 6:24 am

Guys I no this may be a little bit of a stupid question, but holding down the boost button like it's an accelerate button in a racing game, when your on the ground at any time is a MUST if you wish to get a record time right?

And grinding as many rails as possible will shave off a couple more seconds?

Plus avoiding deep snow like it's the plague is another prequisite I take it?

also something I've noticed is that you people almost never jump because on a horizontal plane you'll be slowing down as you gain more height thus slowin your rider down, correct?

Hopefully I've got these facts nailed down, anyone mind suggestin anything I may be overlookin?

Tue Nov 11, 2003 7:19 am

sometimes its best to jump early ona ramp in order to geta more direct line. but first try not jumping at all cause you might get the "sucked down" effect.

Tue Nov 11, 2003 8:02 am

it depends on the course whether i go for air or not... sometimes it simply depends on where in the course i am and what my boost meter looks like, since i'm usually willing to sacrifice a second of air time to get that level 3 boost. I've found locations where popping a little air can get me ~6feet off the ground doing 75mph over powder for almost 200 feet in-game. it might not seem like much to some, but that's a solid second or two chunked off your total time right there and can be worth boost if you've got the cahones to try doing any tricks while doing it (/me looks around innocently :heh)

Tue Nov 11, 2003 8:47 am

thanks for that vid ettepet, after watching it i went online and got the number one score! with a huge crash too. :heh D'oh.

EDIT: now if i can just find a good line for happiness cause right now my line sucks (~2:45 online) Once i find a good line i should be able to do well on that course.

Tue Nov 11, 2003 9:05 am

Thank you all for these great vids. They've helped me LOTS so far!

Now I just gotta explore more to find some good lines in other courses..

Tue Nov 11, 2003 9:45 am

I easily see 2:17 here. I knwo where you gain HELLA time on me, and I'm having a faster line at soem other parts, so I might go and try to get tat record back tomorrow :P

Tue Nov 11, 2003 10:14 am

nice run ettepet, i just watched the vid. It mirrors my line almost exactly except for one small portion of the track :heh gj

I see, Great!!! :yes (2:19 is possible, without too much falling :wink)

so did i so i went and got 2:16, until Aeroth got freaking 2:12. :eek good work aeroth! :cheers

Wed Nov 12, 2003 9:21 am

i've noticed that mr kings run could be alot faster.

i always tend to squeeze out as many ubers as i can in each jump i "have" to do in races

the L1 lvl 1 uber, the kick things is super fast and you can usually get of at least 2 on a semi decent jump, so he could have gotten lvl 3 boost much sooner with all those big jumps he did and only holding one uber.

just watched the throne vid, yeah, you could definitily get that 2:10 figure everyone is talking about if you did what i said up there and used the lvl 3 boost.
thats my line too, i've got a 2:19 that i did with psymon a few days ago.

Gondee, I think your Comcast space is down because both your sig and that link do not work.

Wed Nov 12, 2003 1:16 pm

Work for me just fine - both show up. It may be an internet problem in your area, try back later.

As for how good a Master Run is, if you are going to criticize a Master Run, do it constructively like above. I don't want to see another "You suck bad!" post because it doesn't do any good. Say something like "Good time! But here's where you could have improved...", etc. etc. That helps the other person get better too.

Wed Nov 12, 2003 1:36 pm

The link didn't work for me earlier.. it's fine now.
