dude! i'm so impressed! this is far better than i could ever do. i suck at digital painting. but this is marvelous!

don't take this the wrong way... but, maybe you should try adding some more extreme tones. like some deep blacks and some bright whites? i feel like it's a bit dreamy and blurry which is definitely cool if that's the effect you're trying to achieve but it would definitely add some depth and make the art a but more tactile.

but they're amazing! you definitely have a future in art if you choose to.

Changed the thread title because it was kind of misleading. Anyway, I painted 2012 Kaori. When I started, I kinda knew that I was biting off more than I could chew, but even though I might not have done the idea justice I learned a lot by pushing myself.

I grew kinda unhappy with my first Mac portrait, so I tried him again in 2012 style. I can already see a few oops in it, but I'm done with it for now. I wonder if anyone besides jjakt can guess where I got the pose from?

Seeing how you're such a big Kaori fan, it made me super happy to hear that it sparked that kind of reaction from you. Thank you so much for all of your kind words! Thanks so much for the feedback Tunes, especially the criticism! It helps me figure out what I should focus on in the next one. I've gotten that exact same critique irl from multiple people, so I figure it's probably my biggest weakness at this point. I need to work on value/contrast, and I definitely need to stop overblending because it's giving my stuff that blurry/dreamy effect as well as lowering the contrast. In whatever I do next, I'll definitely try to work on making my strokes, colors, and values more bold and decisive to try to add that depth and texture that my paintings right now are sorely missing.
