I hope it ends up around 86+

I already know the game's awesome, but I also know people have ridiculous standards where review scores are concerned, and I'd like it to sell well. Anything below 85 is only considered "good".

Wow, 9/10 from Eurogamer, known to be tight with their scoring.

Nice to see the 9/10 from Eurogamer, that's my most visited games review site, probably because they're so harsh (along with Edge).

Sweet, I was expecting a 7 or maybe 8 at best from Eurogamer. Their 9/10 will carry a lot of weight for people who live and breath review scores. :yes

The CVG video review was quite well balanced and entertaining, actually.

"What have you done to my game, you ruined it with your realism!" :lol

yeah it was to be honest, the people giving the right scores (9's or above!!!) are the people this game was made for, the fans, the low scores are generally from people who never got it back then, and refuse to get it now, sick of hearing 'no split screen' now, cant remember the last time any of my buddys and me sat in a room and played together, the day xbox live was invented, that went out the window!!!!!

Don't forget the fact that they gave the sounds a 7 out of 10. What the ...?

It’s a concept that’s worked well in other games, from Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time to Race Driver: GRID, but here it feels like a concession to stages that are too unpredictable to conquer first time out the gate and too sprawling to memorise. All too often, you’ll plunge unavoidably to your death and be forced to rewind with icy-grave-given hindsight. It neuters the thrill of reading the slopes, of feeling your way along the ridges and speedily changing your tack on the fly. It gives the track designers an excuse to be cruel, too, where previous games were kind and offered plentiful opportunities to pick your mark and grind it. SSX at its soaring best was about empowerment, not punishment.

Punishing? Some's afraid of a little challenge? Sounds your avarage gamer. Meh.

Super Tricky hard-earned?

Doesn't sound like he should have been reviewing it.

Some sites are saying it's easy, others are saying it's hard, both normally as a complaint. Weird. It seems pretty straight forward to me; fairly easy to do well at, hard to be brilliant at.

It's his opinion which is fine, but saying series vets will be unhappy with it suggests he's not been paying much attention. Oh well, most seem happy with the game.

Aren't loading times supposed to be a lot shorter and only 4-5 seconds between restarts, just like the demo?

:???

For those who desire a perfect track with an endless trick combo, restarts will become second nature, but it can get dull when waiting times can get up to 20 seconds between each retry.

Yeah, that seems odd...

Maybe Vix or someone else with an early copy could clarify.

Edge is my favourite game magazine, but i usually don't agree with their review scores.

We are definitely biased, but it sounds as if this reviewer didn't try very hard playing the game...

Game informer said " survive it isn't fun" and they didn't like gear. All I heard was a lot of "its not the same crazy ass tricky courses". A lot of people trust gameinformer too :(

As much as I have enjoyed reading Edge over the years their scoring has always seemed odd to me. But a 5 that's very harsh even for Edge.

That awful Edge review has dragged the Metacritic average down to 81.

Haha, I'm torn. Much like you guys, I want to hate on the lower scores, but at the same time it seems typical of an SSX fansite to go crazy over anything we don't think is absolute praise for the game.

An interesting thought though: Every review agrees on the good points, but almost none of their negatives match up with other reviews at all... to me, this says there are no overarching problems and each reviewer has found his own little issue to start picking on. Issues this small and varied are usually something fans of the series wouldn't think twice about because it's not the reason they play the games. They already know which features of the SSX franchise they love, and all of those have been checked off the list. Anything else is negligible in the grand scheme of the game's design.
