You may have recently received an email from EA Origin saying "Your password has been reset." This is most likely related to the way EA processes logins which allows WinonaNET/OzmoNET to process your scores. It's literally been over 5 years, and they FINALLY found it. Most likely because of the Equifax breach.

Equifax, the company that stores your credit history and plenty of personal information about US citizens, was breached in May. The cause of the breach was a simple vulnerability that was not patched for over 2 months on a front-end webserver. The Equifax CIO/CSO resigned because of failure to enforce good security protocols. EA, also a public company, most likely panicked and ordered a few front-end stress tests. The Origin login was completely full of holes. Your password was reset by EA as a precautionary measure.

The important takeaways are as follows (unrelated to each other):

  • Have a UNIQUE password for each of your important accounts.
  • For US Citizens, your credit may have been affected by the Equifax breach. Triple check ALL three (3) of your credit reports. Do it NOW.
  • WinonaNET may stop working at any time.

Interesting. Never would have thought about the Equifax breach having any sort of effect on anything SSX.
