Anybody take part in any of the quirky GE's going about just lately, somebody made one on Burnout, Survive It, no gear whatsoever! I saw the Diamond bracket before my 1st run...775m! Woohoo, or so i thought, i made 264m on my 1st attempt. I think a few hundred people got in on it by the end, all, like me expecting to take it down easily, and dying within 20-25seconds, very clever, made a nice change from the usual race, trick it, survive it etc.
There was another one yesterday on Antarctica, again no gear, a little easier this time, but still a good crack, trying to stay in the sun. Anybody else enjoyed these, or got any ideas for quirky/odd events?

What's the name of that one level in Patagonia, that really short wingsuit level? Whatever it's called, a Race It with no wingsuits would be ridiculous.

No, it's similar to Code Blue but it's got larger jumps. It's the one with all the hoodoos.

I had fun with Himilayas -> Lhotse -> Death Zone Survive it, no gear, no wingsuit yesterday. I actually managed to make it completely through one run despite not having a wingsuit! Ended with about 6,500 for my distance while everyone else was in the 2,600 to 2,800 range (there were only 6 of us when I did it).

I admit, that 4th Wingsuit spot took a good bit of ingenuity to figure out how to get across without a Wingsuit. The first 3 plenty of people know how to get across. The last one just took a really good, full boost jump aimed and timed just right. It's the 4th one though that seems to stump most people.

The cold runs are okay, I do enjoy them. But the Oxygen required runs with no gear (but yes on the Wingsuit) are where you really have to get creative.

I did that cold run on Headshot yesterday - no gear. The diamond was 10,000 metres. I didn't think I could do it - but I had a go and got 8,000. Not bad.
Ran it a second time - rewinds were allowed so equipped more. Got to 9,500 metres.... ran out of rewinds ... the helicopter buzzed me twice and killed me.
Those survival runs are time-consuming but as a break from race they are kind of zen-like.
I don't really have the words to describe the helicopter.

Same here Eeeyore, a few days ago, i took part to that Burn Out , Survive It, featured GE, no oxygen allowed. First attempt. 350m -.-. Gold bracket. Then i see people taking the wingsuit. 800m. Diamond bracket. Then i see the first diamond. Zocky. 1065m. :eek :dead

I like those kind of quirky events generally speaking, i have a 100% chance of epic laughs when playing them.

I think I also competed in this event, got 900+ meters, the trick is to travel as far as possible with the wingsuit, you will not run out of oxygen as long as you're flying.

Yeah, when I first figured that out, I was like "wow, these guys will stop at absolutely nothing to earn credits. They think they're so slick!" :no :lol

I do not understand how the wingsuit is somehow considered separate from the rest of the gear when IT'S IN THE GEAR SECTION. But yeah, that event is probably the easiest 40 million or so credits you'll ever make. (Of course, as more people continue to figure it out, it will only become more difficult.)

I know that feeling well. :)

On the other hand, I've also learned that the helicopter's actions are to a degree controllable by you. Instead of trying to avoid the helicopter's shadow when it appears, angle slightly towards it. When you pull away, the helicopter tries to follow, usually overcompensating and drowning you in its shadow. If you aim slightly towards it, it will try to reposition a little further away. You can use this along with memorizing where these intersections occur to plan out how to mostly avoid the helicopter's shadow through the entire run. Occasionally you'll still get hit, but you can greatly reduce the frequency and duration of those hits.

Hope that helps. :)

Yes - nice one. I'll give it a go :) Sometimes it seems to come completely out of nowhere - but yeah there are certain places where u know its hovering.

Did 59,000 metres on Thunderbird yesterday. After about an hour and a 1/4 I got a bit restless and starting flipping a bit. I really wanted to get 60,000 but .... one flip too many alas :cry

Funny - I never eat meat pizzas. Maybe I should start >muses< :???
