I use either Psymon or Alex.
Epic or legendary speed board.

Okey :) I use Psymon and lv11 legendary rocketboard with extra trickytime. And suit with boost bonus. Do you have an example of a track you feel you suck on? maby I can give you some tips.

Add me as a friend on ps3 and I'll create a custom event. Then you can follow my ghost. And I'll explain here as we go. ok?

I think you just have to keep doing the track over and over again until you find a line you like that gets you to the finish really fast. I've found it helps to watch what some of the ghosts do, the ghost in front of you is often the ghost that the game wants you to beat, so it has a slightly better time.

Racing is more difficult than tricking IMO, because you can make one mistake and a whole run is broken (ie, catch the lip of a jump and then your 80 feet in the air waiting to come down while the clock ticks on. It requires much more repetition and practice, whereas with tricky you can pretty much just pop into any track and flip your way to gold or higher.

Keeping boost alive is also huge. Check some of the video runs on this site for more tips (master runs).

Dude, you mess up in a trick event, you lose HALF your score.

Get the best board and mods you can afford
Do some forward flips right off the start and get into tricky asap
Keep boost going .... even tiny tricks will keep it alive
Hit the flares if you can - they will top up yr boost
Find ways of tricking without taking too much air.... all tracks have ways of doing this but they aren't always immediately obvious
so get to know the tracks and practise.
Don't try too hard all the time and get wound up - you need to have fun with this game.

:???

Your entire trick run can be destroyed at any time as well. One crash and half your points up to that point are gone. Nothing like crashing near the end of Serenity or TBW...... :frusty

In the words of Alex Moreau, who's arguably one of the best racers in the game: "My advice to you: be more like me!"

But yeah, just what others have been saying. Watch the ghosts of other riders. Also, get to know the tracks so you can time your tricks and hold on to Super Tricky mode as long as possible.

All of this is true, but the gold metal targets for trick it events are pathetically low. I can gold most tracks without the combo bonus. Getting all the golds for race it events was more difficult for me to accomplish...until I discover the wing suit.

For future reference, you can edit your posts instead of double posting.

My advice to you is to practice, like someone else said. And remember, "Tricks equal boost." :]

Which one is easier to gold depends on the player since some people are better at trick, some race. It also depends on what skill level you are at. Tracks that I was STRUGGLING to gold in trick the first week or two the game came out I can gold blindfolded now almost (well not really, but you get the point :lol ). I am not talking about getting gold anyway since that is very easy in race or trick one you get to a certain experience/skill level, but rather competing against your own times/scores and/or competing against others at which point any type of crash in race or trick is usually a fatal occurrence as far as setting a new personal best or beating a tough rival.

Swagswagswagswagswagswagswagswag

-follow the (ghost) leader
-only use the [] -> O, O -> [] / X -> B, B -> X grabs and always tweak them for massive points

That's all the advice I have. I'm not quite the coolest cat at races either.
