So yesterday I had a hankering to play SSX3, but I couldn't find it, and for some reason decided to pop in OT instead. I know plenty of us were quite disappointed by that game, but I went to the board shop and saw FBX's $2 million Merqury city board. That was pretty damn cool of them!

... that is all.

*royank's.

Yeah, that is actually all though. Because the skis weren't that cool.

Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:52 am

Really, it's Royank's? I could have sworn it was FBX's, whoops!

Yeah, royank designed the board included in OT, whereas FBX designed the secret board included in SSX3.

i think the music is amazing in OT, it opened my eyes to those genres before i even got into them.

it has cool 'real life' attributes. sponsors, etc. i think that's kinda cool.

i thought the ubers were pretty cool. especially the skis.

the little hand drawn animations are cool too, for like the first 15 minutes.

create a character is cool in theory. but really just in theory.

^Bonobo is superb.

I say it had a pretty good Freeride mode actually. I've had many many hours of cruising around that mountain on mah board. Also, it had quite the good soundtrack, at least IMO. What I do not like though, is the Monster Camera, and ESPECIALLY the fact that in 2P-Mode, a player who gets left behind teleports to the one ahead. Just stupid.

Merqury City board + Infinite Boost = EPIC WIN

The best thing about On Tour is that the rail system is finally working. You could jump from one rail to the next without worrying to miss it like in SSX 3. It was the worst in SSX Tricky.

Tue Aug 23, 2011 8:04 pm

I liked that there were no wormholes or major glitches in SSX on Tour. Unfortunately anything else I liked was done just as good or better in SSX 3.

Also, maybe having other riders on the course, maybe? I don't know, it was cool, although I even like freeriding in SSX 3 better today.

The only thing I really liked was getting chased by the Ski Police, haha.

Only thing i can think that's great about it was how glad I was that there was a new ssx!
... Oh, yeah, and the merqcity boards the best! Aand that's all!

The coolest thing was that that the game's PS2 version was translated to finnish.

You know, once you get used to the horrid user interface, crappy physics, annoying camera angles, bland environments, and complete lack of character personality, SSX On Tour is actually a pretty half-decent snowboarding game.

In all seriousness, I've just begun to legitimately play through On Tour. I actually like the trick stick idea, and I hope we see a more solid implementation of it in the new SSX.

I love the tracks, it's different and gives off a resorty feel.
The introduction of skis = EPIC. Was so awesome to see them enter the world of SSX.
The music is amazing. Red Flag by Billy Talent and Banquet by Bloc Party = <3
The introduction of Skye!
Slalom is actually pretty awesome, I prefered them way more than the gates back in SSX 3.
CPUs are actually difficult to beat, and when you rank up, they get harder.
The different routes you could take down the mountain in freeride.

Fine fine...i like the music and Nintendo Village

I think its horrible compared to ssx 3 but its better than most all snowboard games today. Is it just me or did the graphics get worse from ssx 3 to ssx ot?

Fri Jan 27, 2012 1:50 pm

I wouldn't say the graphics were worse in OT. They were arguably less pretty to look at though, they had a different style. SSX3 looked really lush with all those saturated colours, it was a really pretty game for its day. OT just didn't have the atmosphere of the others because it wasn't at all character driven. It was a good area to play in, I enjoyed the courses and general design. In some ways I actually preferred bits of it to SSX3. I liked the sense you were in a resort.

Oh my gosh I'm not the only one. About a year ago I got into that genre, but I remember being a little 7 year old and singing along to most of the soundtrack, I thought that genre of music was so cool (and I still do).

Other than the Monster tricks, changes to the characters and skis, this game was actually pretty fun. It has the great feel and control scheme of 3, a (subjective) good soundtrack and fun maps. Not a classic like Tricky or SSX 3, but if you go in with low expectations like I did, you might be surprised by how much fun it is.

It might just be nostalgia at this point, but I like On Tour better than DD, even if far more love and work went into it.

~26minute multi-path freeride from peak to bottom.

just love that.

Having people riding down the mountain with you idk why but i just like it

Nah now that I think about it the mountain was really cool, but those weird graphics and bad characters ruined it I think.
