Ew, that's a hard one. Try a game that doesn't work with your PS2, if it plays fine, then you know it's your console. You can also buy an official PS2 cleaning kit, that might help as well.

HI MobyStile

Any CD/DVD laser cleaning disc will do, if you take the ps2 apart then your warranty will be void (if you have one) if not its still not worth it, just brush down any dust thats collected on the venting holes and fan, then use the laser cleaner and try a cd wipe (sometimes comes with the CD).

you can buy the kit from most game shops and hardware stores.

If youre getting a circular scratch around your game disc's then I think your PS2 ready to give up the ghost.

Assuming youhave one of the old PS2's its quite easy to open up and clean.

Remove the 8 plastic and rubber caps from the bottom and remove the screws. The only delicate bit is pulling the top off. There is a ribbon wire which you dont want to dislodge. Once the lid is off you can open up the disk read area and use those cotton buds that you use for your ears to clean all the dust out.

It made my PS2 work alot better.

(I dunno what circuit city is sorry)
