lol i have a burton board... they're so awesome and responsive as a mousetrap

i agree with DJD some people should think of manufacturing snowboarding jeans... you would just have to soften the fabric a little more and make the pants baggier

Hmm...actually now that I think about it, actually, I was thinking about it for some time now, you don't need to get some special jeans for skiing/snowboarding. See, you could just wear one or two sets of Pepper Skins (a mountain lovers friend when they can't stand the cold wind) then probably two pair of jeans. If you don't mind probably being wet when you are done for the day, then you can pull it off!

Oh, there are tattoo companies? And I might be wrong about the jeans, I just haven't seen any in Colorado shops or on the web yet.

Not exactly jeans, but they're denim. Hey, they're burton too! Anyway, Snowboard companies don't MAKE snow jeans because people wear them anyway. You'll see punk rocker boarders wear em all the time. And the point is to show off that you're so good that you can wear jeans, therefore NOT getting them wet, or maybe wearing one extra layer. Nothing too big.

A.) Shoot, I got to show this to my dad. He wouldn't let me wear jeans even if I brought an extra pair with me. Oh well, I wiped out three times (a fourth if you count one of my skiies coming off completly, yet I'm still standing. Don't ask, I don't even know how I did it.) But the first three times were because I had very long skiies, going down bumpy hills (a trick area for one) and going extremly fast that the wind went straight through my Canadian hoodie and Pepper Skin (and freezing my skin.)

B.) Speaking of punks, that reminds me of this one snowboarder who had a matching shirt, pants, board, and iPod...

C.) Hurry for Burton boards! :cheers It is the only board besides Dragon board that is wide enough for me to ride (size 13 boots at the weight of 150lbs. Only three selections and Dragon happened to be at 50% discount for clearance. But got myself Burton bindings, I'm so happy!)

I was thinking that manufacturers could use soft denim, which is readily available, and treat it with something water-repellent. Or maybe just make a hybrid fabric that feels and looks like denim, but isn't, and is water-repellent. It would be cool to wear real jeans that couldn't get wet, for those of us who just might fall occasionally. :wink

That would be cool. :china I like usefull stuff, and jeans are the best for pants. Plus, the idea of probably going to ski/snowboard and not have to change your pants. I don't mind putting on a coat, but the pants get annoying.

So hurray for hopefull near future pants.

SSX OT is mediocre enough already. Putting some McSnowboards (Burton) in there would make it worse. The general quality of Burton products have gone downhill in the quality department over recent years while their prices have stayed ski high. I won't even touch their stuff after the horror stories I've read.

Regardless, I'd rather not see real products in SSX, and I guess having the rider brands I support NOT in the game is kind of nice. (Option's in there, but that's natural as they're based in Vancouver where EA Canada's at.)

Hahahaha, I havn't been here in a while but the stuff people post is always amusing especially when they don't actually know about snowboard culture, trends or fashison. Not saying that it is any of your faluts or that it really matters, but it is funny to those of us who actually ride (I have been riding for 14 yrs btw).

YES people wear jeans out riding (usually on warmer days btw) and yes there are denim snowboard pants out there (Burton, Westbeach and a few other companies have made them although the deniem phase was more seen in the mid 90's than today.)
People also ride in jeans as stated before because they are comfy and that they are good riders. It kinda shows that they are.

Also people ride in t-shirts, without shirts, in sports bras and just about every other clothing or lack of. As I said before it is usually on very warm days (spring riding, or early summer on the glacier if the mountain has one.)

I guess SSX OT went with more of a realistic feel because alot of the team are riders themselves, that coupled with the fact that brands bring in $$ and the fact that amped is the only other game out there with real life brands in their game. -That is the thing that attracts real life riders to the game. (Think of a Skateboard game that has no real life decks or gear. Kinda lame if you ask me.

Just a little info for those out there who love the ssx series but don't ride - which is almost of those who play the ssx series.

One final thing: Burton boards kick ass and always have compaired to the sea of companies out there. Option, Ride, and Prior are also really good brands btw.
Don't just read the hype about something because there will always be neg feedback. Go ride one for yourself or don't comment on it because you don't know the facts aquired from experience.
;P

wow, I got off topic as I should have stuck to the game side of it. Oh well.

So...are you saying that I don't get any points for generating the snowboarding-jeans idea within my own little bubble? ;P

Very good post by Frontside_Air. And I agree with just about all of it. And denim really has made the rounds through snowboarding, from topsheets on Ride boards to even the highbacks on my Unions.

It'll still take the whole Bolivian Army to put me on a Burton even if they are great boards (due to some dealing wtih/against Mervin, lame three-hole converting baseplate lawsuits, and other stuff). No disrespect to those who ride Burton though because if it works for you, it works for you.

Well, I'm not wanting to disagree with you, but Burton is just to expensive for people who don't live near a mountain yet still want to snowboard. Yeah, my bindings are great, but they were just to expensive for me. I can see your view point for somebody who could probably go a lot, but for major tourists, it sounds like a brand to stay away from till you feel you should.

Also, I don't see it happening except for very big guys wearing thin layers of clothes in spring or winter. I've seen it happen and I almost wanted to do it myself, but I had long skiies at the time.

And finally, I took a vote thinking about how many people do ride something, and about half of the people said yes. (And if you can ski well, then snowboarding would be easier to learn.)

Try strapping in this in mid-air.

That's why they don't use real boards.

Also, I hate, HATE, HATE it when people ride in jeans. No matter how good they are.

I think that jeans are rad. Although I prefer normal snowboard pants, I think that the people are so good that they can fly the jeans no sweat. It's way coo.

It pisses me off, it is pretentious AND foolish. Jeans simply don't provide the warmth and protection riding requires, and people should let their riding talk, not their pants. Also, I'll be the first to admit it: when I think about the days I have gone without falling at all, I generally wasn't trying hard enough.

If you'd notice, in SSX3 and OT, they only have the toe straps. Not the ankle straps. I tried riding like this... you lose alot of balance control, but you can pull off many more grab tweaks in the air and stuff. Landing is still the same, no matter if you have the ankle strap or not.

As for the real world stuff... Yes, make the areas and characters look realistic. Just make sure the gameplay doesn't change. After all, the gameplay is what makes the meat of the franchise. I mean, really, would you have complained if Tricky's tracks were Uber detailed with all the crisp look of real-life ice and snow and trees and billboards and glass and junk? No. The tracks would still be the same either way, and so would the characters...

As for boardsm I have a Ride. My friend gave it to me for free, since he had one much better (Option).

No Burton boards may just be lack of being able to afford a license to present them, either that or Burton didn't want their boards featured alongside their competitors, or maybe they already had their boards licensed to another snowboarding video games. There could be any number of reasons. :yes

I think it's kinda dumb that they didn't add some stuff. Some burton stuff would be nice, some more Forum stuff, they could use some stepchild, lib tech for sure. Throw in some DC stuff, airblasters. Also next SSX should have it so your board doesn't make your skill. You earn skill like SSX 3 or a tony hawks way, and how well you can jump and crap should depend on your set up, so if you have bottom line stuff and all your stuff is heavy, you can't go that high when you jump. And don't put in FS misty!!!! They don't exist snowboarding! And but in Corks, inverted corks, and lipslides and such.

Some Ride boards would be pretty sweet. That's what I have, but I have Burton bindings. Everyone who snowboards would have to admit it would be awexsome to ride down the SSX mountain with the board you have in real life. They'd have to take the stats off the boards, of course :glare
