So I was wondering, do you prefer snowboarding or skiing in SSX On Tour?
I prefer snowboarding, it is what I grew up with on SSX. I might try skiing though.

Skiing was the one thing that EA Sports BIG messed up on (as far as I can see with the game.) I did try a Tour on skies, just getting a breath of it, and I found out that there are tons of stuff for snowboarding (board wise) compared to skiing. On skiing, you get more boot options, but on the long run in the game you really only care about getting great boards/skies quickly. Now skies do have better edging and stability (since you don't have to balance that much, I personally now.)
But for most people, they probably go for the most popular one.

Edit: However, in real life I ski. But I'm currently working on a snowboard for next winter.

Skiing is even buggier than boarding.

Skiing is gnarly once in a while. As a matter of fact, it's really fun. But I think that the boarding is a lot more extreme and intense. It keeps it old school, while being new school.

Boarding all the way.

Now I really know what skiing is like:

I did the Legendary Race with my friend on Quick Play yesterday, and we both used the SSXQuatch with skis. For a person used to using Monster Tricks with boards it is quite frustrating, as you cant see the trick they are pulling, only a whirl of skis. And you cant tell when they are over.
The plus parts are when you turn, it makes you want to turn (well for me it does, I find it looks cool). Anyway, it is a cool option, but I prefer boarding.

I know people around here are very loyal to snowboarding but objectively I must say that skiing, right after the speed effect, is the best OT addition to the SSX world. It is so smooth and slick and there are some great looking ski tricks as well (seriously, name one non-uber...er...monster...whatever, snowboard trick that looks better than kosak, tweaked mute, truck driver or even spread eagle). The movement of the skier, the edging and overall control are IMO much better than that of the snowboarders.
So yeah I voted Skiing.
I really hope they keep it in SSX5.

Boarding. Skiing was a complete waste of time, hopefully they'll get rid of it for an SSX5 and take it back to being real.

Reasons Skiing was a waste:

There wasn't much difference between that and boarding.

No special areas just for skiing, no ski only courses, etc.

The tricks were meh...

If they decided to bring it back, I hope they actually put it to good use rather than just tacking it on.

Guess I might say this:

Usually when a game company makes something for the very first time (graphics don't count that much,) the new thing isn't that great, in this case, skiing. Well, if EA Sports BIG thinks they could make it better, then they'll put it back in the game.

But as my idea on skiing, it needs more ski choices.

I'm actually enjoying the skiing so much I haven't even tried the boarding y et.

But then, I just love skiing.

Hope they work some of the bugs out before the next game, though.

EDIT: I should clarify, I've only had the game two weeks, so I've only just hit Pro-Master and have not come close to fully exploring the game yet...

It's harder getting a big combo with skis.

I'll pick snowboarding. That's SSX. Sking isn't SSX.

Oh, I have just tried skiing, and it is hard! :heh

Not the racing part, that seems a lot better than boarding, but I always forget to stop holding my skiies when I land... :heh

I snowboarded the last 3 games. skiing feels so much cooler. Plus the tricks look more varied than the boards.

What? I would say the complete opposite - the snowboard tricks look more varied.
