Rubberband AI: The kind of AI that always catches you, no matter how much they crash...If you played Burnout you know what I mean.

SSX3 AI: The stupid, lazy, sloooow AI that was in SSX3...you know...you probably won all races you have done so far...use a liittle boost and it's sure you'll win...yeah, that kind of AI!

I'd go with rubberband AI, coz I'd rather prefer have some competition offline than none...

I'd prefer rubberband AI. It would make it harder.

Rubberband AI is ridiculous. It's annoying when the CPU may have crashed dozens of times [as in B3] and is hot on your heels. I'd prefer the normal AI out of the two, but, why not have a difficulty setting manually or one which increases in later rounds [Final round being of extreme difficulty setting for example].

I reckon that would be much better.

Having bombed down a course for example at the best possible speed only to fall at the finish line for the first time and see the CPU glide by and take first is neither rewarding or challenging. It's just plain annoying and usually results in my TV receiving a barrage of abuse, and in rare situations, a PS2 pad flying it's way. :)

Stop being a whiny baby...

It's the first news about the game....months away from release.

Relax or I'm gonna give you a forced vacation to relax.

I want AI that is able to be variable in difficulty.

But what I would really like, if possible, is for the AI to be able to adapt to what you're doing and consistently get better as you play, so it stays challenging. If that would be possible, I think that would be cool.

The nearest thing you're gonna' get to that is to be playing against another human player. :)

SSX 3 AI. Though, they stay at your level. It was dumb that when your character was perfect in attributes the Peak 3 AI was fast in races while you could smoke Peak 1 AI right out of the gate. Also, it would be nice, but doubt it'll happen is ghost AI like in Tekken 5. In other words the AI starts copying you in certain aspects like your race lines most used tricks, ect.

Now that you mentioned that it gave me another good idea. It would be cool if you could have ghost replays. They used them in the Gran Turismo games for breaking your records.

That way you can see your race line's and try to improve on them visibly, cutting corners quicker etc and you could see what you had done in a former race. Almost like racing yourself really.

Obviously no one has noticed, because I have mentioned twice that it would be cool to have ghosts to use and to give to people online. Along with me, frost has also thought of the idea. It is in the SSX 4 Predictions thread.

And someone thought of it before you did, eviltim. Ideas aren't copyrighted and with good reason, :heh. I don't like the ghost idea simply because it would make improving your line a tad too easy. We'd have maxed out scores within the first week which would be lame.

Anyway, I hope AI just copies the players to a point, because apparently it's too hard to create realistic static AI.

Not rubberband AI, just harder AI, like people have said. And less predictable. Let them take shortcuts every so often. Make them less stupid.

Actually, I never took credit for the idea, I've said I got it from ATV offroad fury 3. Although, the main part of my idea wasn't as much having a ghost, as much as being able to download the master run of a run done online, like was done in ATV Offroad Fury 3. There, you can download any replay of any of the top 1000 records at any race track. So I can't see why SSX 4 can't do that, with the record holders permission :poke :).

It's called a patent...

Anyway, the ghost idea is one that I'd welcome into SSX. And Pixel, it would not make scores be maxed out more quickly. If you guys have ever played the GT games extensively, you'd know that. It does give you a fantastic gauge of how you're doing, though.

I'd rather have SSX 3 AI. In MK:DD they had Rubber Band AI and it was annoying as fuck. I'd rather have a fun game than an annoying one. How 'bout you?

The rubberband AI only works in certain games. Burnout 3 is all about intensity and contact, so it works. SSX is a more open game, though, so I don't think they could really pull it off, at least to the extent that Burnout 3 uses it.
